Pacific Riviera is the second album in the M2M (Mississippi to Mauao) trilogy and took its inspiration from 4 rivers which have been significant in Ryan’s life: Waikato, Riwaka, Awatere and Motueka – he has used them as the basis for the compositions. “This second album signals a resurgence -a return to the source for me”, says Ryan.” A return to the South Island after twenty years in the north, a return to the rivers and a return to the spiritual nourishment of the South Island landscape. The mountains and the skies of the Southern Alps are very humbling. You leave your ego behind when you play the piano this close to those mountains”.

On this second album Ryan delivers a 7 track album of electronica and live jazz performances collaborating with Steve Garden (drums), Mike Booth (trumpet), Aaron Saxon, Warren Mendonsa, Craig Agnew and Dave Maybee (guitars) , Brian Lewis (bass) and Cam Allen (sax), Greg Latham
(flute). This is the second of a planned trilogy of albums under the M2M banner recorded on his boutique/indie Torch Music label.
Recorded in Tauranga 2008; mixed in Brandy Creek, Dovedale Valley, Nelson NZ in 2009 - 2010.

Liam Ryan New Zealand

Christchurch born, Liam Ryan, made his name as keyboardist and songwriter with Kiwi band The Narcs in the 1980s (Heart and Soul, Diamonds On China).
He has released 3 solo albums on his IMNZ label, Torch Music: Mississippi To Mauao (2007), Pacific Riviera (2010) and Woven Not Stranded (2021).
His Masters Degree researched The Rise of Rhythm and Blues in Christchurch 1960 -1970. ... more
